Fistula Beneficiaries

Mrs. P. Mythili
Mrs. P. Mythili, a 46-year-old resident of Chennai, has shown remarkable resilience in the face of life’s challenges. A homemaker by role and formerly employed as a hotel housekeeper, she has been the sole support for her family since her husband abandoned them 14 years ago. Today, she continues to care for herself and her son with determination.
In July 2024, Mrs. Mythili began experiencing severe breathing difficulties and a loss of appetite. She was admitted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, Chennai, where investigations revealed that she was suffering from chronic kidney disease and required regular dialysis to survive.
She has since been undergoing dialysis at the hospital through a Permcath—a type of tunneled catheter used in hemodialysis that is inserted into a vein and tunneled under the skin to reduce the risk of infection and ensure stability.
Recently, her doctors advised that a fistula surgery was necessary to continue her dialysis treatment more safely and effectively. However, due to her financial constraints, Mrs. Mythili was unable to afford the surgery costs.
It was at this critical point that she reached out to TANKER Foundation for help. Thanks to the generous contributions from our donors, we were able to support Mrs. Mythili by funding her fistula surgery.
She is deeply grateful to the TANKER Foundation and all those who made this assistance possible.

Mr. S. Arun Kumar
Mr. S. Arun Kumar, a 33-year-old resident of Chennai, earns his living as a street shop vendor. His wife is a homemaker, and together they face life’s challenges with courage and perseverance.
In December 2022, Mr. Arun Kumar began experiencing swelling in his legs. After medical evaluation, he was diagnosed with renal failure and was advised to begin regular dialysis to sustain his health. Since 2024, he has been undergoing dialysis treatment at our Injambakkam Dialysis Unit.
Recently, he encountered a serious complication — multiple blockages in his arteriovenous fistula (AVF). An AV fistula, created through a minor surgery, connects an artery and a vein (usually in the wrist) to provide reliable access for dialysis. These blockages posed a threat to his ongoing treatment.
On medical advice, angioplasty was recommended to remove the clots and restore function to the fistula, enabling the continuation of his dialysis. However, due to financial constraints, Mr. Arun Kumar was unable to bear the cost of the procedure.
Recognizing his urgent need, TANKER Foundation stepped in to provide financial assistance for the angioplasty. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the surgery was made possible, giving Mr. Arun Kumar a renewed chance at life.
Mr. Arun Kumar and his family are profoundly grateful to TANKER Foundation and its donors for their timely and compassionate support.
