Dr. Georgi Abraham’s response to the mail:

Dear Priyanka and Tarun. Thank U so much for Ur observation and wonderful comments. God bless U.

Dear Dr. Georgi,

Thank you very much for your Book under the Title ‘My Patients My God’ and your journey till today.

I have gone through the Book and I could realize the efforts you have made and tried to help the people from time & again, who are suffering from CKD and also your interaction with many Doctors of repute in the field.

I have read your childhood memories and I recollect the childhood memories of my Grandfather practically on the same lines coming from a village, going to school which is 7 kms away walking up & down. Since the timings were 8 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 pm, he was resting in between time sleeping below the banyan tree or in nearby temple.

I appreciate the pains & struggle you have taken in your career to see today the present generation and be a part of the progress in Medical Science and keep yourself up-to-date.

I once again appreciate your rise to this level.

Regards,

S.D. SAWANT
(Chairman of Centaur Pharmaceuticals)

Mr. Harish Natarajan who was in 2000 middle, Chief of Baxter India and now in New Delhi, had high praise for TANKER Foundation Founder-Trustee, Dr Georgi Abraham’s book ‘My Patients My God: Journey of a Kidney Doctor’:

This book is a “must read” for every medical student – and for every young doctor who is faced with the inevitable existential dilemma that surrounds the profession.

Dr Georgi’s book reflects the man – unpretentious, honest, warm, compassionate, respectful and a lifelong learner. Written is an earthy story telling style, the book is rife with examples of the author’s courage and ability to distinguish and pursue what is “right” over what is “expected” – invoking Guru Gobind Singh to make Gurucheran agree to dialyse, fighting to get Kidney transplant programs approved in private hospitals, battling with an egotistical medical examiner, going up against the MCI to make India a centre for the PACES examination.

Dr Georgi’s compassion and big heart shine through the pages – as does his impatience with ritual and formality. Have been witness to his generosity several times over the last 2 decades of our association – he always appears to have a gift for everyone. A toy for a child, saris and shirts for his colleagues – but….. buying a safe deposit box for a beggar has to be a new high! Only Dr Georgi can do this.

For a person who has achieved so much in his life till date, the author is remarkably devoid of ego. One phrase that he uses often comes to mind – “My job is to keep the patient alive for the next 24 years, the rest depends on God”. His acceptance of a higher power behind his work finds repeated mention throughout the book. He is quick to accept his mistakes and to learn from others. He is willing to roll up his sleeves and do what it takes – from pushing a patient stretcher to sitting on his haunches in a public place to examine a patient’s pedal oedema.

The author’s compassion, love for people and commitment to develop those under him is reflected by the many tributes written at the end of the book from all who have had the good fortune of working with him.

Read this book if you want to reaffirm your faith in medicine and doctors!!

For his part, Dr Georgi Abraham said: “Thank U Harish. I humbly accept Ur tribute and our association.”

The book is now available on Amazon.
